The word Kalamkari means work(kari) done with pen(kalam). It is one of the most traditional forms of art in India noted for its beautiful and detailed hand paintings on fabric made with natural dyes using special pens.


Zar(gold) and dozi(work) embroidery was introduced to India from Persia. In this form of embroidery metallic threads and embellishments are used to adorn various fabrics with elaborate designs.
